“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” Psalms 139:23
I remember growing up, how difficult it was for me to understand my true identity. I always tried wearing the expensive clothing (like Hollister etc.), I’ve dyed my hair a few times, hoping for some nice compliments. I have gazed many lonely nights at the computer screen, looking at images of people who had it all. I always wondered if I would ever amount to anything. I still to this day have moments of confusion and self pity because I know I will never be at the “top.” The good thing is, in Jesus we are at the top. We are His bride. He looks at all of us as the most beautiful gems to ever exist. Do you believe that? Here are some verses to help you if you feel frustrated that you aren’t good enough to world, but everything to God:
He Sees You through Your Heart: “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:10: this verse states that God determines our identity through how we use our heart: for good or bad? Just like in my previous post “what tree are you?” What fruits are you bearing, and are they abiding in God or in Man? Make sure that every desicion you make is in according of God and His will. It’s important that when we have a relationship with Him, we need to reflect that relationship to others. This world needs love, let’s show more of it.
He Sees us Through His Spirit: “these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10: Another way God sees us is through His Spirit. You’re probably wondering how is that possible? Jesus is living in our hearts, so is His Spirit. He knows every breathe, sound, and move we make. His Spirit overshadows the depths of sin that lay inside of us. Forcing us to become more like His image and less of our own.
Let His image become Yours: “let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.” 1 Peter 3:11: Now you know your identity is through Christ, it’s time to show it! It’s time that we all turn away from sinful desires that make us separated from God. His plan for all of us is so much more than anything we can imagine. He promises us everything that we could hope for. Your identity is all of this: beautiful, wanted, mended, love, strong, courageous, kindness, Jesus. Be who you are called you to be. He can see you for who you truly are. ❤️
