When I look at the word sin, I’m not going to lie, a sort of chill runs down my spine and makes my insides churn. It’s such a small word…but destroys everything. It lies within us, deceiving our every thought. Controlling our every step. It makes our hearts pump fast. It makes us do or say things we know not to do. And most devastating of all, it can and will separate us from God.
Sin is not something we should over look, but we tend to do so every day of our lives. It may be the most manipulating source of evil to exist. But, with every poison is an antidote, and that is Jesus Himself.
You see, when Adam and Eve went behind God’s back and deliberately disobeyed, He knew in that moment sin would infest human Earth. He also knew in that moment He needed to make a way, a sacrifice, in order to be united with us again. Let’s stop and imagine that for just a second. God first of all, was betrayed and chosen over for something so small (compared to Him). And second, in that very moment, He knew in order to gain us again, He had to lose His own Son. How devastating is that? God did it anyway. He made The Way. ” “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
When we accept or have accepted Jesus into our hearts, we need to understand that sin cannot win. It can get inside our heads and make us do some evil things, but it cannot win. “Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2.
We need to understand that Jesus is here. He is here in the spirit. We cannot keep telling ourselves that we will never be good enough or sin is too overpowering. It’s not true! Jesus made a way for us to be with Him eternally. He also promised to be with us here on Earth. He promised that we can overcome every obstacle that comes our way because He first did it. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Sin is darkness. It’s the shadow of Satan. It lurks and creeps like a predator. We are the prey, vulnerable to its chaos and inevitable to its charms. But Jesus is the light. He is the breath we breathe and the path we follow. He outshines sin and He transforms us into our true identity. “You were once darkness, but now light of the Lord thanks to Christ Jesus. Walk as children of the light.” Ephesians 5:8
Sin is powerful. It is dangerous. It is evil. It cannot surpass God. It cannot overcome Him and certainly not us because He dwells within your heart as we speak. Remember this on the days where life is ubearable. Feel your heart and remember that He lives in you.
